About
Goh Izawa is a drummer and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. Gigging in bars and festivals with rock bands as a teenager in Hawaii, listening to soul music on his mother’s stereo, and learning from the greats in the jazz lineage in NYC have all contributed to Goh’s multi-dimensional voice, allowing him to approach each musical project with the creativity, sensitivity, stylistic authenticity and passion it deserves.
Goh has both performed and recorded with a wide range of artists such as Gavin Turek, Raye Zaragoza, Frances Rufelle, Fleur Seule, Mike Liegel, Elise LeGrow, Mree, Chnnll, Maddy Ruff, Danny Fishman, Micky and Katie Buchanan. He is also fortunate to have shared the stage with jazz masters such as Billy Harper, Gene Perla and Rich Perry.
Goh earned his MM from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with John Riley, and his BA/BFA from the New School University where he studied with Rodney Green, Reggie Workman, Shawn Pelton, Greg Hutchinson and Adam Deitch.
